Urban Consolidation Centers: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly-The Dutch Experience
Urban Consolidation Centers (UCC) and joint delivery systems could play a key role in efficient and environmental friendly urban freight transport. This webinar described the experiences with UCCs in The Netherlands, and discussed the success factors in terms of the public-private partnerships, participation of stakeholders, role of municipalities and government along with financial aspects, business models, and collaboration with regional developers. Lorant Tavasszy, Hans Quak of TNO-Delft University of Technology and Peter Tjalma of TransMission discussed lessons from UCC as well as the future perspective based on case studies in The Netherlands (i.e. and TransMission and Binnenstadservice), and Barcelona’s UCC (Straightsol).
